EMBLEMATIC TREE

Pernambuco wood (Pau Brasilia Echinata), endemic to Brazil, is the principal wood used in the manufacture of bows for professional and advanced musicians. For over 200 years, bowed string players at the highest level have depended on the unrivalled quality of bows made from pernambuco wood.

Unfortunately, this wood, emblematic as Brazil's national tree, is endangered and becoming increasingly rare.

ITS HABITAT

The Mata Atlantica, its natural habitat along the coast of Brazil, has been reduced to just 5-7% of its original size by massive deforestation for tropical timber, agricultural, residential and industrial expansion.
